Prove Your Impact: 5 Tactics For Unquantifiable Results

In our world, demonstrating impact is crucial….... (duh).

But quantifying results in areas like mental health, activism, or research can be hard. SO, how do we showcase our impact when it seems unquantifiable?

By focusing on one core strategy: compelling storytelling.

Let’s break down how to show impact in the context of unquantifiable results.

Get stories

Sharing personal stories creates an emotional connection; they share the human element of the impact your org has. Heartfelt testimonials highlight personal growth and also connect deeply with donors.

For example, “in our cancer research programs, we share the journeys of survivors like John, who found hope and a new lease on life through our clinical trials”. This narrative demonstrates both scientific progress and personal triumphs.

“When I was at ORG, we conducted a video interview with a local artist who found a new purpose through our community arts program. The way his eyes lit up when he talked about his renewed sense of belonging was more powerful than any statistic.”

Show the work

Photos and videos bring our work to life. A short video of your team distributing care packages during a crisis shows the immediate relief you provide and also helps the donor see the ongoing support and hope we bring to communities.

It makes it REAL.

Survey says: You need surveys

Conducting pre- and post-program surveys can provide measurable evidence of your impact. For instance, a mental health organization can use these assessments to show improvements in the well-being of their clients over time. High satisfaction rates and positive testimonials can serve as strong indicators of your program's effectiveness.

Celebrating Wins

Sharing milestones and progress towards long-term goals demonstrates your ongoing commitment and success. For example, an organization focused on fighting global warming might highlight the number of trees planted or the increase in wildlife populations due to their initiatives.

Gather your champions

Collaborations with other organizations and endorsements from experts can add credibility to your impact. Highlight these partnerships to show that your efforts are recognized and supported by esteemed community members.
